Seeds for Africa aims to help African families and communities by the provision of indigenous seeds, agricultural equipment and relevant technical advice, giving individuals and communities a future, not just a temporary answer.

Key Aims

Carbon Offsetting

Seeds for Africa is committed to reducing the effects of rising CO2 levels through their tree planting programmes.
For every 28 trees cut down, only one is replanted. (i)
Every tree we plant in Africa also provides shade, fruit and soil protection in African schools and helps offset this balance albeit in a small way.

Food Security

Seeds for Africa provides sustainable, organic, secure food sources both for now and the future.
The vegetable gardens and fruit trees provide an excellent source of vitamin and mineral nourishment which alleviates hunger, improves general health and can improve concentration at school.

Education

It is crucial to the projects that the teachers and children are fully involved from the very beginning. Training is available in the agricultural skills necessary to ensure that the seeds and trees grow successfully. The lessons, both academic and practical, form part of the everyday curriculum.

By providing school children of all ages with the skills and knowledge of how to grow vegetables and fruit trees organically, Seeds for Africa gives them a skill that they will take to adulthood and ensure their own and their family’s food security for the future.
