Community Groups

Seeds for Africa is very interested in working with community groups. We have been fortunate to have volunteers who have helped us in many practical ways and others who have focussed on fund raising.

Below are some ideas for fundraising which we hope will help even help even more children secure a better future. Hold a Kenyan coffee morning.

  • Ladies Lent Lunch with a small donation made by those attending.
  • A sponsored Sail-a-thon – if you belong to a yacht club, perhaps a race or sailing event could be held to raise money to help African children. It has been done before extremely successfully!
  • A sponsored diet where every pound lost is a pound donated to help children. Hold an ‘American’ Supper or themed night where everyone donates a pound to Seeds for Africa. This could be held monthly at the homes of various friends.
  • Organise a walking group where members pay one pound per week to meet regularly and go on an agreed route, make friends and chat whilst helping children.
  • Hold a sponsored swim or other keep fit activity.
  • Hold a clothes swap event with a small entry fee. Swaps are the latest in money saving ventures for the fashion conscious. Invite friends to bring nice unwanted garments which can be swapped at no cost and just charge a small entry fee. This could be a regular event. Organise a board games evening where members pay a small fee to take part.
  • Hold a Race Night. These can be extremely popular and become regular events. Become a Seeds for Africa Speaker and help us to tell more people about our work with children in Africa. This kind of volunteering is important to us as it helps us to spread our message further but also gives speakers greater self-confidence and an opportunity to practise presentation skills.
