The team comprises staff and trustee/directors and the coordinators in Africa. They all work very closely together to ensure that we rise as much as we can and most importantly that we maximize the benefits that are received by the organisations and individuals that we support in Africa.
Amanda Gerrard
Amanda has two key roles. She is responsible for liaison with our Corporate Supporters ensuring that both they and Seeds for Africa benefit from the relationship. Key to this is making sure that they know how much their support is appreciated. She manages the UK end of the projects in Africa which includes assessing grants and ensuring that projects are monitored. Amanda will admit that her first visit to some of our projects was a life changing experience.
Louise Hickmott
Louise runs our Community programmes of fundraising. This means being very organised as she runs a wide variety of events. She is the first point of contact for schools, young people and community groups that would like to support the charity. Louise is also responsible for many of the tasks that are so essential in the administration of any organisation.
Victoria Lee
Victoria is essential to the funding of many of our projects. She has responsibility for organizing our approaches to Trusts and grant-making bodies and for presenting our case to them. These bodies are often very generous and through them, and with Victoria’s efforts, we have been able to fund some very successful projects in Africa.
Patrick Reynolds*
Patrick is responsible for our finances and for legal matters. He spent a number of years working in West Africa and has visited East Africa several times recently.
Chris Bowman*
Chris worked in East Africa for many years and he oversees the grants and the monitoring of projects. He is responsible for the arrangements with our project co-ordinators in Africa.
David Wright*
David has long experience of working in countries in southern Africa. He provides a wealth of knowledge that helps us in getting our message across to our supporters.
Lorna Tee*
Lorna helps Louise on the Community programme and provides a great deal of organisational support and experience. Each year she spends several weeks working in Ethiopia.
Graham Holmes*
Graham is Director of Sport at the University of Kent. He is experienced in fundraising in both a personal and general capacity. His knowledge and commitment are vital to the charity.
Abdul Hassan-King
Abdul is our co-ordinator in Sierra Leone. He is a horticulturalist with over 25 years experience of land rehabilitation and the maintenance of trees as well as nursery production. He is now one of the most respected consultant horticulturalists in the country.
Thomas Ndivo Muema
Tom is our co-ordinator in Nairobi. He is the Programme Manager for YBGP and is highly respected for his work in helping children learn how to grow trees. His knowledge of the conditions in Kenya and how to get the best from the land is amazing.
Leonard Gastory
Leonard is the co-ordinator of the Joint Environmental and Development Management and Action (JEMA) in Dar es Salaam. JEMA’s members understand the local climate and the needs of people in Tanzania. Leonard is highly trained in agricultural skills.
