Seeds For Africa

We gratefully receive all donations and as little as £5 can make an enormous difference to a child’s life in Africa.

WAYS TO GIVE

If you would like to make a donation to help us continue our work, there are several ways to do it.

  • Donate online

You can donate securely online with PayPal and NatWest.  Simply click on the ‘Make a Donation’ link at the top of the page and follow the instructions.

  • Donate by post

Either email or ring us and request a leaflet or download one and then fill it out and return it to us at Seeds for Africa, Unikent, PO Box 581, Canterbury, Kent, CT2 7SW.

Alternatively, download our official Donations Envelope, and print as many copies as you require. An ideal way for individuals and organisations alike to help reduce the charity's overheads, and maximise the power of your gift to benefit Africa. Cut and fold the envelope along the lines provided, and simply glue the edges together.

  • Donate monthly by Direct Debit

A regular monthly gift would show your commitment to the long term struggle of overcoming poverty in Africa. By pledging a monthly gift, you will help us plan long-term projects devoted to tackling the poverty in Africa.

Donate £10 or more per month and Seeds for Africa as it develops into an African-led organisation, where African people are employed to use their initiative in facilitating and developing the sustainability of their own communities.

As a member, you will have priority booking for our events, which project co-ordinators, staff and other supporters attend. Here you will be able to find out more about the work that you help fund. In addition, you will also receive a newsletter.

You can choose to donate on any day ofbecome a Seeds for Africa team member. This commitment encourages others to support  the month and all you need to do is fill out our Direct Debit form and return it to us at Seeds for Africa, Unikent, PO Box 581, Canterbury, Kent, CT2 7SW.  Please remember to tick the Gift Aid declaration and we will claim tax back on your regular gifts.

  •  Donate by Give As You Earn

One of the easiest ways to donate to Seeds for Africa is payroll giving.  Payroll giving is tax-effective, so a donation of £5 only costs you £3.60. Through payroll giving, people can give to charity tax free. Employers deduct from the pay packet each month before PAYE tax, giving the donor tax relief. Seeds for Africa receives the full donation without having to reclaim the tax.

From April 2004, small and medium-sized firms will be given cash incentives to set up payroll-giving schemes.  Payroll giving provides Seeds for Africa with regular income, enabling us to plan long-term.

Check with our office to find out whether your company is part of the Payroll Giving scheme. If your company is not signed up and you would like more information either for yourself or for your company please email amanda@seedsforafrica.org stating your interest in Give As You Earn.

  • Donate in lieu of giving presents

Have you got a birthday, anniversary or a wedding on the horizon? Or is your friend that person who has everything and you don’t know what to buy them? If so, then why not make a donation towards a ‘One Tree’ fruit tree nursery garden for a community as an alternative to giving a present?

For more information on our ‘One Tree’ gift scheme please have a look at our One Tree page or email amanda@seedsforafrica.org or call Rosemary on 01227 823202 to request a ‘One Tree’ leaflet.

  • Donate by recycling

By recycling your used printer cartridges and old mobile phones on behalf of Seeds for Africa you will be doing your bit for the environment and Seeds for Africa will receive a donation for each recycled item.

Turn your used printer cartridge into a packet of vegetable seeds!  Seeds for Africa receives up to £2.50 for every recycled cartridge. This is enough to buy a packet of vegetable seeds.  Seeds for Africa has a partnership set up with a recycling agency who will collect your used printer and fax cartridges making it hassle free.

Turn your old mobile phone into a gardening tool!  Seeds for Africa receives an average of £5 for every recycled mobile phone. This is enough to buy a gardening tool.  Every year millions of mobile phones are upgraded. Most of these phones either end up in the dustbin or being sent back to the manufacturer who benefits from the profit.  Please get in contact with Seeds for Africa if you would like to transform your old mobile phone into a gardening tool for community garden in Africa.

To help Seeds for Africa to recycle cartridges or mobile phones, please email    amanda@seedsforafrica.org or call 01227 823202 for more information.
